Earlier this year, ResourceCo was selected by Delta Group to deliver sustainable outcomes for the concrete waste from the demolition of a historic bridge on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula.

The Pedler Creek Bridge, built in 1967, was demolished as part of the South Australian Government’s Main South Road duplication project, with the concrete collected and delivered to ResourceCo’s Lonsdale facility for processing.

ResourceCo Recycling and Waste Chief Executive Officer, Brad Lemmon, said he was proud to see the concrete from such a historic piece of South Australian infrastructure recycled.

“Concrete from demolition projects such as the Pedler Creek Bridge is crushed down, with all the foreign particles removed, before it is then turned into high quality products, including road base,” he said.

“The great thing is that these recycled products contribute to a circular economy and could potentially be used in infrastructure projects in the same region from which the recycled material was previously used.”

This is just one example of ResourceCo’s work as a leader in the recovery and re-manufacturing of primary resources, extracting maximum value from materials otherwise destined for landfill.
