While some may be put off by the stickiness of recycling waste from label manufacturers, ResourceCo is joining with leading Malaysian industries to divert their waste material from landfill.

ResourceCo Asia in partnership with Shah Alam based label manufacturer MCC Labels, recycle 550 tonnes of residual label manufacturing waste each year, recycling it into process engineered fuel.

ResourceCo Asia Malaysia Managing Director Pavel Cech said ResourceCo is looking to increase its work with label manufacturers across Asia given the success of its work with MCC.

“Our work with MCC Labels has shown that we can divert this waste stream from ending up in landfill and provide sustainable outcomes here in Asia,” he said.

“When you take a minute and think of all the labels you see around you every day, you appreciate just how much potential waste exists in manufacturing them.”

Cech said ResourceCo has refined its processes and increased the amount of waste it takes each year from label manufacturers.

“We are currently discussing potential opportunities to expand our intake of waste from these label manufacturers which could see our estimated annual intake increase by 500%,” he said.

“Given the amount of these manufacturers that are based in Asia, there is significant potential to work with them to recycle their residual waste.”

Devaki Rajendran, Regional Sustainability Manager from MCC Labels, thanked ResourceCo for its support in providing sustainable outcomes for the company’s waste.

“With the support of ResourceCo we have managed to reduce 30mt of CO2E at our MCC Label Kuala Lumpur site,” she said.
