ResourceCo is working hand in glove with glove producers in Malaysia, the largest glove manufacturing country in the world, providing landfill diversion by recovering their residual waste.
ResourceCo Asia Malaysia Managing Director Pavel Cech said the proximity of ResourceCo’s Asia operations to the glove manufacturers is critical for this work.
“Here we are on the doorstep of these companies being able to offer an opportunity to divert their waste from landfill and provide sustainable outcomes, which is music to their ears,” he said.
“Given the desire of these manufacturers to explore opportunities to improve their sustainability, we are able to present a strong proposition to them to consider.”
Cech said the sheer size of the glove manufacturing industry in Malaysia means there is potential for ResourceCo to increase its intake each year.
“When you consider the millions, if not billions of pairs of rubber gloves that are manufactured in Malaysia each year, that means there is a lot of residual material from the manufacturing process that has to go somewhere,” he said.
“ResourceCo is proud to play a role in ensuring this residual waste from the manufacturing process stays out of landfill, instead harnessing its energy, and processing it into an alternate fuel, which is used to displace fossil fuels by high energy users.”
