Ngutu College is a school where Aboriginal perspectives are woven into every lesson, where creativity is celebrated, and where children and young people are empowered to learn in ways that honour their identity and spark their curiosity.

Since opening in February 2021 in Adelaide, Ngutu College has grown from a cohort of Reception to Year 6 students into a vibrant, inclusive learning environment now reaching Kindy to Year 11, including more than 290 students, with Year 12 set to launch in 2026.

“We set out to build a school that feels like home,” said Andrew Plastow, Head of College.

“A place where children are seen, heard, and supported to grow into confident, compassionate young people.”

Driven by the core values of empowerment, hope, duality, sustainability and creativity, the Ngutu College vision has captured the attention of families, educators – and partners – who believe in the power of education to transform lives.

The school’s rapid expansion speaks to the demand for educational models that embrace diversity and nurture the whole child, which is aided by a group of staff members that has grown from 12 in 2021 to more than 90 in 2025.

“Our children and young people are engaged, curious, and deeply connected to their learning,” said Plastow

“They’re being given the chance to drive their own education in a way that means they will be most engaged and motivated, with exposure to opportunities they may not have known were possible.”

The college provides a powerful example of how opening the doors to business, the community and specialised support providers can markedly improve a child’s outcomes.

The school’s journey is a powerful example of what’s possible when bold ideas meet community support.

As part of Ngutu’s campus development, ResourceCo provided support in removing and treating contaminated soil and recycling asphalt, which helped create safe, sustainable spaces for students to learn and play.

“Ngutu College is doing something truly special and we’re proud to support the college,” said Nicole Bennett, ResourceCo’s Head of ESG.

“It’s a privilege to support a project that’s not only shaping young minds but also demonstrating how environmental and social responsibility and education go hand in hand.

“It’s going to be exciting to see how the college continues to evolve and how ResourceCo can continue to provide support.

“By recycling materials and helping to rehabilitate the site, this enables the students to help design their environment, with Ngutu College students learning through outdoor classrooms, cultural immersion, and hands-on projects that foster leadership, empathy, and creativity.

“By recycling materials from the site, ResourceCo is proud to play a small part in making the campus such a great place to learn.”

Plastow said Ngutu College thrives because of community support.

“From dedicated on-site staff to generous donors, volunteers, and service providers, every contribution plays a vital role in shaping our learners’ futures,” he said.

“We are deeply grateful for this invaluable support.”
