UNIQLO is a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer. The company operates in Japan and seventeen countries globally, including Malaysia. UNIQLO strives to minimise its environmental impact and to operate efficiently, eliminating waste and searching for ways to extract more value from fewer resources.
Most of the clothing items UNIQLO collects through its recycling program are in good condition and donated to people in need around the world. For the portion that is no longer wearable, ResourceCo Asia converts them into Processed Engineered Fuel that is used to heat Cement kilns. Through this collaboration between ResourceCo and UNIQLO, old clothing is repurposed as an alternative to being sent to landfill – a positive for the planet.
